How same-day, overnight and economy delivery work with UrgentGo
Every UrgentGo booking follows the same shape: we collect at the address you give us, the parcel is scanned onto a route, and it is handed to the recipient at the other end with a record of who signed. What changes between the three service levels is how much of the day the parcel is allowed to take. Knowing which clock applies to your shipment is the difference between a delivery that lands on time and one that arrives a day later than the meeting.
The three service levels at a glance
Same-day is a city service. A driver collects and delivers inside the same metro on the same working day, usually within two to four hours of collection, starting from R89. Overnight is the intercity service: the parcel leaves today and reaches the destination on the next business day, in any province, from R129. Economy is the road-freight option for goods that are not racing a deadline, taking two to five working days from R79. All three are door-to-door and tracked; none of them require you to drive to a depot.
Cut-off times and collection windows
Same-day bookings confirmed before 12:00 noon are collected the same working day. In the Gauteng metros a confirmed booking normally means a driver at your door within 90 minutes. Overnight parcels need to be collected before 14:00 to join that night’s linehaul and arrive the next business day. Book later than that and the realistic arrival moves out by a day, however short the distance looks on a map.
Saturdays run on earlier cut-offs and a reduced route, Sunday collection is limited to the weekend emergency service, and public holidays follow a smaller schedule with a surcharge. After-hours collection can be arranged on weekdays for genuinely urgent work. If your parcel is ready late in the afternoon, say so when you book and we will tell you honestly whether same-day is still possible or whether overnight is the safer promise.
Coverage across South Africa
Same-day delivery runs in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban and the surrounding metros, including Sandton, Midrand, Centurion, Randburg, Roodepoort, Bellville, Umhlanga and Pinetown. Overnight and economy cover all nine provinces and reach smaller towns along the main freight corridors, so a parcel can move from Germiston to Polokwane, or from Cape Town to Bloemfontein, without changing courier halfway. A farm, mine or outlying address adds a separate last-mile leg, which is why those quotes differ from a city street. The coverage page lists the towns we serve before you pay.
Tracking and proof of delivery
Each parcel gets a tracking number at booking. It is scanned at collection, at the hub where one applies, and again at hand-over, and each scan pushes an update to you and the recipient by SMS, email or WhatsApp. You can follow the status on the tracking page at any point. When the parcel is handed over, proof of delivery is captured with the recipient’s name and signature, and where the driver cannot get a signature, a photo and a timestamp stand in. That record stays available for your own books, a client query or an insurance claim, and R500 cover is already included on every shipment.

If you are sending something today, the question is usually not which service sounds best but how soon a driver can reach you. UrgentGo runs same-day collections across Johannesburg, Pretoria, Ekurhuleni and the surrounding Gauteng metros, with a driver at your door in about 90 minutes once a booking is confirmed and paid. Parcels moving between addresses in the same metro are then delivered the same day.
For everything outside that radius, overnight delivery covers all nine provinces on a next-business-day service. Parcels booked before the daily cut-off travel overnight and reach cities, regional towns and farming hubs alike. There is no depot in the middle of your journey: a driver collects at the sender's address and delivers to the recipient's address, whether that is a home, an office, a hospital ward or a site office.
Every parcel carries R500 transit cover as standard, and the tracking number issued at booking shows you the live status from collection through to the signature at the door. If you send regularly, a business account keeps the same service on a prepaid balance with volume pricing, and there is no contract to sign.
Pricing starts from R89 for same-day metro delivery, with a Gauteng Flyer satchel from R49 for satchel-sized items sent inside Gauteng, economy nationwide delivery from R79 and overnight from R129. Rates depend on the route, the parcel's weight and its dimensions, and the price is confirmed before you pay.
