Looking for a Courier Guy alternative? Compare UrgentGo

A plain look at how UrgentGo Courier works — 90-minute collection, weekend dispatch and door-to-door delivery across South Africa — so you can decide whether it suits your parcel.

Collected in 90 minutesWeekend dispatchDoor to door

If you are weighing up a Courier Guy alternative, UrgentGo Courier is an independent South African operator built around three things: collection from your door in about 90 minutes in the metros, dispatch on Saturdays and Sundays as well as weekdays, and door-to-door delivery where one driver carries the parcel from the sender to the recipient. Pricing, cover and tracking are published up front so you can compare against any other quote you have.

What UrgentGo actually offers

Three service promises do most of the work when you are choosing a courier. Here is what ours look like in practice, stated plainly so you can check them against your own requirements.

Collection in about 90 minutes

Book online or by phone and a driver is dispatched to your address, typically within 90 minutes across the Gauteng metros. The collection window is confirmed when you book, and you are notified when the driver is on the way, so nobody waits around all day.

Weekend dispatch

Saturday and Sunday are working days for us. Weekend parcels are collected and moved on the day you choose rather than sitting until Monday, with Saturday collections accepted until 10:00. Useful when a deadline does not respect the working week.

Door-to-door delivery

One driver collects from the sender address and hands the parcel to the recipient at theirs. There is no depot drop-off, no counter queue and no second leg to arrange. Proof of delivery is captured at the door on arrival.

How to compare couriers fairly

These six questions work on any courier in South Africa, including us. We are not going to claim a competitor is slow or expensive — we would rather you test the things that are measurable.

1

Ask what the collection window is

A promise of "same day" means little without a collection time. Ask how long after booking the driver arrives, and whether that is measured or estimated. Ours is usually within 90 minutes in the metros, agreed at booking.

2

Check whether weekends are normal days

Many networks treat Saturday as an upgrade and Sunday as closed. Confirm which days the courier you are comparing actually collects and delivers, then match that to your deadline rather than assuming it.

3

Confirm door-to-door or depot

Counter and depot services are often cheaper but cost you a trip in each direction. Decide which model suits you before comparing prices, because you are not comparing like with like otherwise.

4

Look at what the price includes

Check cover, tracking and proof of delivery before you rank quotes. Every UrgentGo booking includes R500 transit cover and live tracking at no extra charge, with higher declared-value cover available on request.

5

Read the delivery confirmation

Proof of delivery with a signature or photo is what settles a dispute. Ask how confirmation is captured and whether you receive it automatically, rather than after a follow-up email.

6

Test the route you actually use

Rates and transit times change with distance, weight and dimensions. Get a firm quote for your own address pair and parcel size instead of relying on a headline starting price from any operator.

UrgentGo service levels and published prices

We only publish our own numbers. Each tier below is a starting rate for a standard parcel; the exact price for your route and dimensions is confirmed before you book, so nothing changes after collection.

Every tier includes live GPS tracking, automated SMS, email and WhatsApp updates, proof of delivery and R500 transit cover. Higher declared-value cover can be added at 1.5% of the insured value if the parcel is worth more.

Where UrgentGo fits, and where it may not

We are a focused operator rather than a national retail network. That shows up as fast collection in the metros, weekend dispatch as standard, direct door-to-door handling and pricing you can see before booking — and it also means we are not the right answer for every shipment.

If your parcel originates and lands inside the major metros and needs to move today, same-day metro is built for that. If it is crossing provinces overnight, book before 14:00. If cost matters more than speed, economy road delivery is the cheapest tier. For very large consignments, pallets or specialised freight, the pallet and trucking pages explain the limits before you commit.

If you need a nationwide walk-in counter network, a specific retail brand or a service we do not run, we would rather say so than talk another operator down. Compare the collection window, the weekend availability and the all-in price, then choose what actually fits.
